This past weekend, I had the joy of hosting Alma x Soughton Estate workshop, bringing together a group of talented photographers to create, learn, and experience the venue in a way that felt both intentional and creatively fulfilling.

If you’re searching for a Soughton Hall wedding photographer or planning a wedding at Soughton Estate, this is one of those venues that quietly holds so much possibility. Set within the Cheshire and North Wales border, Soughton Hall offers a blend of classic architecture, refined interiors, and relaxed surrounding spaces that lend themselves beautifully to an elevated, considered wedding day.

Creating Alma

When I first created Alma, the vision was always clear. I wanted to build something that felt rooted in community, where photographers could come together in a way that felt welcoming, inspiring, and genuinely supportive.

As a Cheshire wedding photographer, I’ve spent years working within some of the most beautiful venues across the North West, including Soughton Hall. Hosting workshops like this allows me to not only share my approach to wedding photography, but also to create spaces where others can grow in confidence, refine their eye, and connect with like-minded creatives.

There’s something incredibly special about seeing it all come together. From the early planning stages to the final moments of the day, it felt effortless in the best way. A room full of creativity, collaboration, and people who truly care about their craft.

A Day at Soughton Estate

Soughton Hall is one of those venues that offers a variety of settings without ever feeling disconnected. Each space flows into the next, making it ideal for wedding days that want to feel both structured and relaxed.

Throughout the workshop, we designed two distinct editorial setups to showcase the versatility of the estate, while also giving photographers the opportunity to explore different styles and approaches.

The Soughton Hall Editorial

Soft, Romantic, Refined

Inside Soughton Hall, we leaned into a soft, romantic aesthetic. Think delicate textures, a gentle blue palette, and a timeless feel inspired by classic European styling with a subtle nod to Bridgerton elegance.

The light within the hall is something I always return to as a Soughton Hall wedding photographer. It falls so beautifully across the space, allowing for images that feel both polished and natural. Every detail was considered, from the styling to the florals, creating a setting that felt elevated yet effortless.

This is the kind of look that works perfectly for couples planning a refined wedding at Soughton Hall. Something that feels classic, but still personal and modern.

The Coach House Editorial

Western, Textured, Unapologetically Wild

In contrast, the Coach House gave us the space to explore something entirely different.

Here, the inspiration shifted into a western, cowboy-inspired aesthetic. Rich textures, deeper tones, and a more expressive, undone energy that brought a completely new perspective to the day.

This setup was about movement, personality, and pushing creative boundaries. It showed just how versatile Soughton Estate can be, allowing couples to step away from tradition and create something that feels entirely their own.

For photographers, it was a chance to experiment. For couples, it’s a reminder that your wedding at Soughton Hall doesn’t have to fit a single mould.

Why Soughton Hall Works So Beautifully for Weddings

As a Soughton Hall wedding photographer, it’s a venue I’m always drawn back to. Not just for how it looks, but for how it feels to spend a day there.

From the elegance of the main hall to the character of the Coach House, every part of the estate offers something different. It allows for a wedding day that evolves naturally, with each moment feeling distinct while still connected.

The team at Soughton Estate also play a huge part in that experience. Their attention to detail and genuine care for every couple makes the entire process feel seamless.

A special thank you to Erin, who made the entire planning process such a joy. Your warmth, organisation, and support made such a difference, and it never goes unnoticed.

For Couples Planning a Soughton Hall Wedding

If you’re currently planning your wedding at Soughton Hall and searching for a Cheshire wedding photographer, this venue offers the perfect balance of elegance and flexibility.

Whether you’re drawn to something soft and romantic within the hall, or something more expressive and unconventional in the Coach House, there’s so much space to create a day that feels true to you.

My approach as a Cheshire wedding photographer is always to document your day in a way that feels natural, refined, and considered. Capturing not just how it looked, but how it felt to be there.
