There is something incredibly special about photographing a family in a place that already holds so many memories.
For Abi and Nick’s maternity session, we returned to the farm where Abi grew up. Surrounded by wildflower meadows, rolling grasslands, and the familiar landscape of her childhood, it felt like the perfect setting to celebrate this next chapter of their story.
As a Cheshire maternity photographer, these are the sessions I love most. The locations that mean something. The places that feel personal. The places where memories have already been made, and where new ones are about to begin.
Summer had transformed the fields into a sea of long grasses and delicate wildflowers. Purple blooms stretched across the meadow, creating a beautiful backdrop that felt both natural and timeless.
Rather than heading to a formal location, Abi and Nick chose somewhere that reflected who they are. The farm has been part of Abi’s life for years, making it the perfect place to document the anticipation and excitement of welcoming their baby.
There was no rush, no pressure, just an evening spent wandering through the fields, enjoying the landscape, and soaking in these final moments before becoming parents.
One of my favourite parts of the session was the beautifully styled picnic nestled amongst the wildflowers.
A vintage basket overflowing with sunflowers and seasonal blooms added a touch of warmth and colour against the soft greens of the meadow. Sitting amongst the flowers, with the gentle movement of the grass around them, created images that felt relaxed, romantic and full of emotion.
The picnic wasn't just a prop. It became part of the story. A quiet moment for Abi and Nick to slow down and enjoy this season of life together before everything changes in the most wonderful way.
